Midwest Veterans Closet where it is Veterans Day EVERYDAY is providing a much needed service to Veterans of all ages, once very proud soldiers and active-duty service military. Located at 2323 Green Bay Road in North Chicago, just north of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, Midwest Veterans Closet, the one-stop-shop Rapid Response Resource provides life's basic needs - FREE clothing, household items, small kitchen appliances, furniture, employment and housing leads, and food from our Food and Nutrition Resource Center.

LBWC, Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) continues its mission to provide a sanctuary for every abandoned, neglected, or abused animal that arrives at its doors. By providing high-standard medical care and nurturing environments, they bridge the gap between rescue and a "forever home." Their dedication to humane treatment, adoption, and community support ensures that every pet gets the life they deserve.

Fifty-five veterans at The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center enjoyed an indoor Summer picnic in the spacious ballroom hosted by LBWC. Deli sandwiches were made on site by the ladies including two crock-pots of 'family recipe' baked beans, salads and dessert. (L to R) Served by Linda Hegg, Leslie Behnke Hall, Donna Beer, Linda Peterson, Janet Tamer, Sally Stein Shineflug (organizer), Marge Triplett, and Lisa Williams. Sally and Linda Hegg, LBWC Co-President followed up with a rousing Trivia game with $5 cash prizes.
Many expressed appreciation for the day’s indoor picnic. One said, “it gives me hope in knowing we are appreciated and someone cares”.

The dedication of LBWC has made a positive impact on thousands of lives . Every action we take today has an impact on tomorrow. Grace United Methodist Church is a venue only. There is no denomination affiliation.

Courtney worked with LB Open Lands Assn. and wrote excerpts informing community on ways to lead a more sustainable life.
She also mentored younger troops on on importance of environmental sustainability.
